Originally established in the late 18th century, the modern-day Lunar Society provides a forum for its members to debate and influence change on issues affecting Birmingham and the wider region. The Society works with other like-minded organisations to provide a programme of activities to encourage discussion amongst members from all walks of life.
Clarke Associates was appointed as The Lunar Society’s secretariat in 2014. Our focus includes:
- Improving internal communications within the Society
- Attracting greater financial/in kind support
- Developing awareness and understanding of the Society and its objectives
- Developing more formal relationships with key institutions
Method and outcome
We provide administrative support and management of the membership database, as well as managing social media and media relations. We help organise the Society’s programme of events including the AGM, annual lectures, dinners and breakfast meetings; we coordinate newsletters and opinion pieces and also run the Society website.
We have a focus on driving membership engagement and new recruits, as well as developing thought leadership papers and fulfilling a target number of core events per year.
To celebrate the Society’s 250th anniversary in 2016 we facilitated a visit by HRH The Duke of Gloucester to Soho House, home of Matthew Boulton, to commemorate the occasion.
Our design service
Clarke Associates produce all promotional material for the Society’s broad calendar of events, our remit also extending to the production of the quarterly and monthly email newsletters. We design the Annual Review, event programmes and flyers and membership leaflets.
